Our priorities

The Androscoggin River is a rich natural resource for all. From its headwaters in New Hampshire to Merrymeeting Bay, the Androscoggin has the potential to support bountiful fish populations which would improve river health, restore historic commercial fisheries,  develop recreational and economic opportunities, as well as sustaining energy production.  

However, for more than 50 years, the Lower Androscoggin River has been managed to prioritize a single goal. Hydropower producers were given run of the river, to the exclusion of all other interests. FTA believes we must reevaluate the Androscoggin management priorities to better balance ecological, commercial fisheries, recreational, economic, and energy benefits for our communities.
